Heavy feathers – Scriptures

John 14:21 – “Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” (Jesus, teaching about God’s conditional love)

1 John 5:3 – Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. (John, near the end of his life)

Hebrews 5:8 – Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.

Hebrews 13:17 – Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow.

Luke 17:10 – “…when you obey me you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.’” (Jesus)

John 19:11 – “You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above.” (Jesus, to Pilate)

Zechariah 9:12 “Come back to the place of safety, all you prisoners who still have hope! I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles.” (YHWH)

Matthew 7:9-11 – “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” (Jesus)

Matthew 8:13 – “As you have believed, so will it be done for you.” (Jesus)

Proverbs 21:1 – The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he guides it wherever he pleases.

Philippians 2:8-11 – He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross.
